Ms Jasmina Joldić PSM joins HEAL as Patron
Ms Jasmina Joldić PSM
HEAL is thrilled to welcome Ms. Jasmina Joldić PSM as the charity’s new patron.
Jasmina’s journey from fleeing war-torn Bosnia as a 9-year-old via Germany, to becoming Queensland’s first Director-General from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, leading the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, is an inspiring testament to the courage and resilience of young people and their passion and potential as future leaders.
Arriving in Brisbane with little knowledge of English, Jasmina completed high school and went on to earn multiple tertiary degrees, including a Master of Public Administration from Griffith University for which she was named alumnus of the year in 2023. Her passion for education is shared by HEAL as we work to remove barriers to learning for children and young people who have experienced refugee-related trauma.
Throughout her distinguished career, Jasmina has been an advocate for equity and has dedicated herself to public service as a way of giving back to the community and country that welcomed her and her family. Her leadership during Queensland’s COVID-19 response earned her the Public Service Medal in 2022.
“It is truly humbling and an honour to be Patron of HEAL – a program that looks after our most vulnerable Queenslanders, giving them a second chance and an opportunity to thrive in life,” said Ms Joldić.
As Patron of HEAL, we believe that Jasmina’s story and leadership will inspire young Queenslanders in our programs as we support them to flourish and thrive at school and in life.
We look forward to working with Jasmina together with our partners and supporters to further HEAL’s purpose of nurturing emotional wellbeing and healing so that children and young people can grow and learn without trauma being a barrier.
