HEAL on Wheels

The Friends of HEAL Foundation supplies creative arts therapy to refugee young people in schools. We cannot get to every school we would hope to service, and not all schools offer the necessary materials/timetable for a HEAL service to operate during the school day.

While I was in Maine, USA, I heard about the Art Van (http://artvanprogram.org/), a mobile arts therapy program, which provides art therapy to kids who have limited access to such social services. The Art Van, like the HEAL service, works with young, often disenfranchised young people, to build trust, create healthy relationships and encourage healthy risk taking behaviour.

SO WE GOT A VAN! HEAL ON WHEELS! THANKS TO CHUCK FEENEY, US PHILANTHROPIST

With a mobile service, we have expanded and delivered our HEAL service to reach more refugee kids, in more areas. We offer fee for service work with the van to Corporations, to extra schools, and to community groups, which helps fund our established school therapy services. With the van, we can also offer service across school holidays, when school buildings are closed, particularly good for orphans and unaccompanied newcomers. WOW!
